Contact & HEX8-SRI

Two opt-in capabilities with bounded experimental evidence and separate records.

Frictionless contact

The supported experimental boundary is penalty node-to-triangle contact in documented small-sliding cases. It does not cover friction, general finite sliding, impact or self-contact. A contact implementation does not establish general nonlinear dynamics qualification.

Selective reduced integration

HEX8-SRI is an EXPERIMENTAL_BOUNDED linear-elastic capability for locking-sensitive cases. It is not described as locking-free or universally robust. Its evidence must be read separately from ordinary HEX8.

Deferred formulations

HEX8R, B-bar and general hourglass-control production paths remain deferred or research-only. Do not transfer qualification between formulations based on their element family name.

Continue with the relevant route.
